It's not for all companies, but if you have a product or
service that lends itself to audio or video presentations or meetings
and training applications, then audio/video streaming is one of the most
valuable communication tools you can offer site visitors and employees.
VideoConferencing is a comfortable way of conducting meetings and if used
properly can be as effective as face-to-face. It's incredibly economical
compared to the rising costs of air travel. Liability issues notwithstanding,
the most important consideration is that people perform better when they
are not stressed due to flying.
Think of audio and video streaming or VideoConferencing as your personal
radio or television station, except it's cheap and better because it's
on demand - which means clients and customers have access when they want
and need it.
Most companies are intimidated by the prospect or don't even consider
video promotion because traditionally it's been financially difficult
to justify - not so anymore.
Interestingly, many companies already have the raw audio or video in the
can. It's usually used at trade shows, for internal training or by sales
teams during live demos.
Real-time VideoConferencing is also no more complicated than adding a
video card and a camera to user computers. Depending on use, you could
add a dedicated streaming server too. The expense of a round trip flight
and hotel room is usually more than the cost of a video system for users
on both ends. It's a cheap and simple solution for the changing world
climate. We design complete packages including recommendation of the best
hardware and software solutions for your specific purpose, plus installation
of the system and professional advice regarding how to efficiently conduct
meetings online.
Moving it online is relatively easy and economical. It gives companies
a line of communication previously unattainable.
Depending on your product or service, there are many options available
to the cost-conscious company. Whatever your goal, as long as you do a
professional job it will elevate your visibility and put you on a level
with large companies. It enhances credibility and illuminates you in a
more professional light.
Videoconferencing and streaming applications are endless. For example,
you can prep potential or current customers when you release new product
or make a change to a popular item or service. You can also demonstrate
complicated assembly or operation procedures. Streamed audio or video
creates a personalized relationship with valued customers. It allows you
to "show" as opposed to tell them about a new product or procedure.
Training applications are also endless.
VideoConferencing opens up new worlds of opportunity and keeps everyone
safe and productive.
It's no secret that streamed video works best with high bandwidth access,
but when configured properly it's also of tremendous value and satisfaction
to dial up users. It's important though that you position streamed material
carefully. The worst thing you can do is get a site visitor excited about
viewing your video and then let them down because you're not sensitive
to their download speed. As long as you're conscious of this soft spot
it'll be a positive experience for all users. We've developed a number
of strategies to address a wide variety of expectations.
For example, you'll find below applications for two different sites. Both
are used effectively and in unique ways.
The first is a site called Made
With The Trades. We designed it for a youthful market. It promotes
Trade Apprenticeship relative to government, union and especially construction
industry objectives. Site visitors access the streamed information from
a wide variety of places like home, work and school. They also use a variety
of speeds from 28.8 dial up to highbandwidth. When you click on the link
below, scroll to the bottom of the page and look for the Video
and DialUp Audio links. Notice that we've
given the visitor an option depending on their personal preference.
We don't set visitors up and get them excited just to leave them in the
cold. Also notice that we provide a loose transcript of everything they
can hear or see via the video stream or audio clip. Some people don't
have the hardware for streaming and consequently are only capable of reading
the information. Whatever the visitor's preference, we accommodate them
appropriately.
Click» Made
With The Trades and remember, once on this page scroll to the
bottom and choose the link appropriate to your access speed. The Audio
link is audio only (no video stream) and appeals to people with
dial up access.
Example 2 is a site for professional communicators. The site, JeffAnsell.com
is aimed at people who tend to have highbandwidth access. Jeff Ansell
& Associates is one of the leading Media Training and Public Speaking
companies in America and was recently listed in the Number 1 position
of a PRWEEK special feature regarding media training.

(It's a Real SlideShow format that requires
optimum download speed, but still works well
at 56k.)
If you need a RealPlayer
you can get it here for free.
